Shooting Star Shines Brightly at Superyacht Awards in Istanbul over Super Moon Weekend!

ISTANBUL

8th May 2012

Glittering amongst the stars of the worldwide superyacht industry this weekend in Istanbul, Shooting Star shone head and shoulders above the rest, taking her richly deserved award as Winner :- Two–deck & Open Semi-displacement or Planing Motor Yachts. Appropriately, this weekend was also marked in astrological terms, as the weekend when the world would see the biggest and brightest full moon for 100 years. How apt that Shooting Star joined in!

The award was received by (pictured) Christina Lötter (Member of the Board, Danish Yachts), Henry Kierkegaard (CEO, Danish Yachts), Christian Duhoux (Designer, Espen Øino International) and Marilyn Bos-de Vaal (Art-Line). This was truly a Scandinavian effort with the Norwegian, Espen Øino as designer of this stunning 38 metre high speed motoryacht. Art-Line is the interior design company, who also worked in close collaboration with Danish Yachts for the interior styling of the vessel.

Known as, "The Oscars of the Superyacht Industry", Shooting Star was awarded this trophy for superior performance most notably her speed, innovative design with the spectacular use of natural light throughout her interior and prodigious craftsmanship in all parts of her carbon hull and superstructure. This accolade truly represents a firm welcome for Danish Yachts from Skagen, into the top-end of the global superyacht industry.

Henry Kierkegaard, Chief Executive of Danish Yachts was in Istanbul for the Ceremony and said, "I cannot say how delighted we are to receive this award. It represents the hard work and dedication of a truly committed team of craftsmen and specialists from the shipyard, who worked tirelessly on this project. My thanks to them and also to Espen Øino and his team, as well as Frank and Marilyn at Art-Line. It is a privilege to work with such a talented group of people and achieve such a result. As a shipyard at the leading edge in carbon composite construction, we value this recognition from the industry greatly."

This is proof that the small Danish town of Skagen can achieve these tremendous results and tribute must go to the late Mr Jørgen Philip Sørensen, former Chairman of Danish Yachts and the driving force behind the initial build of Shooting Star, for his visionary direction and perceptive guidance for the future of the shipyard.
